Reading Ulysses
This is the year.
Beginning June 6, 2012, with the aid of Frank Delaney's video guides, I am going to read James Joyce's Ulysses.
I can't abide the thought of lying on my deathbed crying, "But I never read Ulysses...!" Not much you can do about something of this magnitude when you're At The Threshold, ready to cross over to The Great Uncertainty. Maybe there's a graphic novel I could glance through quickly, before brain-death or what-not sets in. Or perhaps a kind soul could read me the Cliff Notes. But that wouldn't be the same as experiencing the excrutiating terrible beauty of it.
Mr. Joyce, I am throwing down the gauntlet.
